In the late 60s during my elementary school years, I lived in a little town
called Paradise Island. It was right off the shores of New Jersey and for all
intents and purposes was a part of that state. However, the little island
cherished its independence and history as a former Native American held territory,
so it had its own quirks in its constitution and bylaws that made it unique in
its own way.

One of those quirks was girls wreatling and what that entailed in that small
little school district. Fitting in with the times, girls wrestling had become
very popular in the late 60s in our little burgh as a way for girls to assert
their strength and independence, as well as to show their ability to assert
their power over their opponent.

This popularity in our school regarding girls wrestling was unique to our
island and thus there wasn't the opportunity for our girls to compete against
other schools. However, due to the popularity of the sport, the gym teachers had
constructed a very strong in-school intramural program that allowed the girls
to wrestle each other in gym class.

Of course, us guys only heard about it second hand. The gym classes were
segregated so we only heard about the girls wrestling program through word of
mouth.

But we did hear some things about the program from the girls themselves. For
example, it was common knowledge that most of the bouts ended via pinfall --
mostly by schoolgirl pin for a three-count. However, a move had become somewhat
popular recently in the program due to its dominating nature that left any
hapless girl in total degradation if she was caught in it. This move was the
matchbox pin, where a girl would grab the ankles of her opponent and force their
legs completely up and over their head, folding the victim up and actually
forcing her toes to touch the mat over her head!

The move was first introduced by a small, athletic girl named Vicki who
wrestled a much taller girl named Susan. Susan, being the taller girl, was expected
to easily beat the smaller Vicki. But to everybody's surprise, Vicki turned
out to be the stronger girl and humiliated the much taller Susan by putting her
in a matchbox pin.

The pin became legendary -- and trailed Susan until she graduated. The other
girls who saw the pin immediately talked about duplicating it, but the move
was very rarely used because most of the girls were afraid of risking being
pulled off by their opponent with their legs when they got their adversary in a
pinning predicament and thus went for the safer schoolgirl pin to secure the
win.

But there were rumors of something else in the program. It was called "The
Death Rule." Apparently the rumor was, according to the school bylaws, that if a
girl hurt or even killed her opponent during one of these matches, it was
classified as self defense so there would be no prosecution if something like
that did happen. Of course, it never did happen on school property.

But it almost did.

And I was there to see it.

One day, I was given the opportunity to actually attend one of these girl
wrestling gym classes as a prize for an academic achievement. When I entered the
girls gym class, accompanied by assistant principals and other school
officials, I saw something I didn't expect. The girls were about to begin wrestling,
but they weren't doing it on mats. Instead, they were doing it in clear plastic
bubble-like areas like huge fishbowls that were suspended above the floor
several feet. This was done, according to the gym class teacher, to allow the
instructors to see every match going on at the same time.

It was then when I looked over and saw the love of my early life -- Linda!
She was in a bubble and about to wrestle Pam! I couldn't miss this one! Linda
was a beautiful girl who was bigger and taller than Pam. But Pam was a very
athletic girl whose prowess could make up for the size disparity. This was
obviously why the matched Pam against Linda because the size disparity would normally
put them up against different opponents.

I scurried over to the bubble and it was evident to everybody that this match
was special to me. Both girls had their blue gymsuits on -- including those
cute little shorts and those t-shirts that revealed both their arms and their
developing chests through the shirt.

One of the gym teachers got into the bubble to referee the bout and he told
me I could come in to get a closer view if I wanted! I quickly took him up on
his offer.

The girls, though, ignored my presence. They were very intense and were
concentrated fully on the match. Pam obviously had a weight advantage to overcome
and she knew she was considered the underdog while Linda was worried that the
athletic prowess and strength of Pam could lead to her losing the bout and
bring on the embarrassment of losing to a smaller girl.

The two girls faced each other, crouched down in wrestling stance! I remember
finding the whole scene unbelieveable! Linda was such a beautiful girl and
here she was, crouched in wrestling stance about to go toe to toe with another
girl who was looking to embarrass and humiliate her by proving she was the
stronger of the two girls!

The gym teacher crouched slightly between the two girls facing each other,
looked at the two girls, then said, " Ready? Wrestle!" He blew his whistle,
moved his right hand down quickly, and stepped out of the way!

Immediately Pam attacked Linda and within seconds had the bigger, beautiful
girl in a hammerlock from behind! She pulled Linda's left arm hard up her back
in standing position, making the gorgeous girl close her eyes and scream,
"Oww!"

Linda stepped forward and pulled her left arm down in an attempt at escape.
But suddenly Pam grabbed Linda by her long, pretty, shiny hair and pulled!
"Oww!" shrieked Linda and fell to her back!

Apparently pulling hair was legal and Pam had taken the advantage over Linda
already thanks to the move!

Pam moved on top of Linda and I thought for sure he was going for the pin!
After all, if she pinned Linda in less than a minute, she would have proven she
was stronger than Linda and embarrassed the bigger girl publicly.

But instead, to my shock, she grabbed Linda by the throat and began to hit
the back of her head againt the mat! Linda was wincing as the smaller girl hit
her head several times on the mat!

But then Pam stopped and tightened her grip around Linda's throat! There were
other folks touring the facility at the time and when they saw what Pam was
doing to Linda, they all came over to the bubble to see if Pam could not only
record a huge upset over Linda but also to see if she could add a flourish by
embarrassing her!

It was now clear that Linda was at Pam's mercy! Pam could do anything she
wanted with her now as Linda was quickly losing consciousness!

I remember one of the onlookers commenting, "Why doesn't Pam just pin this
girl and be done with her?" The gym teacher acting as tour guide responded,
"Matchbox pins are the thing now. She's probably trying to set Linda up for that
special move. But this Pam is a mean one. She lives to humiliate her
opponents."

And that's the way it looked. In fact, it looked like Linda had simply given
up and was waiting for Pam to either schoolgirl pin her or else hook her legs
and get the matchbox pin!

Then the tour guide said something matter of factly that shook me to my very
core. "She also may just want to kill Linda. It's legal here, as long as you
do it in the ring and under supervision like this."

Meanwhile, Linda was realizing she was just about through! She was just
waiting there, almost begging for Pam to end her torture! I couldn't believe little
Pam was choking the life out of the bigger Linda! Pam's fingers were firmly
embedded in Linda's beautiful neck, choking her!

I suddenly realized that Pam was going for the whole ball of wax -- the legal
kill! Pam could have easily hooked the legs of Linda as Linda's eyes were
closed and she was basically limp on the mat -- basically inviting Pam to finish
her off with either the schoolgirl pin or the humiliating matchbox pin while
offering no resistance.

But it was becoming obvious to Linda and everyone else that Pam had something
much, much bigger in mind -- and that was the historic wrestling kill -- the
first of its kind evver on Paradise Island! And for it to be recorded against
Linda, who was so much bigger than her, via Pam's bare hands would only
increase the historical lore of the kill!

To my amazement, it seemed like Pam was going to succeed in strangling the
bigger Linda to death as Linda's eyes slowly closed as Pam choked her!

If she didn't do something soon then Pam would record the first girl
wrestling kill in school history!

Pam could have very easily leaned back, hooked Linda's legs with her arms,
and pulled up to get the humiliating matchbox pin. That was well within her
reach. But Pam was going for history and was trying to snuff out Linda to gain her
notoriety! To my amazement, it seemed like Pam was going to succeed in
strangling the bigger Linda to death! Linda was just laying there, seemingly at
death's door!

But before Linda entered that door, she was going to give herself one last
opportunity to survive! She suddenly rolled over and surprised the lighter Pam
who didn't think Linda had that much strength left in her! Linda quickly
reversed the situation and pushed Pam's shoulders to the mat! The ref quickly
counted three and Linda had pinned Pam to gain a narrow win, not only pulling
victory out of the jaws of defeat but also out of the jaws of death itself!

Linda rolled off Pam and onto her back. Everybody cheered as Pam lay
spreadeagled on the mat, victorious but looking anything but the winner as she lay on
the mat, trying to recover from the near strangulation she received at the
hands of Pam.

Pam, meanwhile, was on her feet -- angry as a wet hen at herself! This made
for a very interesting scene indeed as the winner was laying spreadeagled on
her back, looking like the loser while the defeated woman was on her feet,
looking like the winner! Pam was furious with herself. She had Linda's throat in
her hands and she literally owned the bigger girl. She knew she had Linda
beaten. All she would have had to do was lean back, grab Linda's pretty little legs
and pull them up into a matchbox pin! Pam would have not only beaten Linda for
the big win, but would have posted a stinging, humiliating defeat over her
that would have made her the heroine of the school and would have embarrassed
Linda for the rest of her time at school! Linda would have lost the match in
humiliating fashion to the much smaller Pam!

But Pam, determined to prove she was stronger and more woman than the bigger,
pretty Linda, wanted to choke her until Linda passed out -- and maybe even
worse! She almost succeeded, but Linda was able to summon every last ounce of
strength and determination to reverse Pam and end the match in her favor with
the big pin!

Ironically and unfortunately for Linda, her escape from dying at the hands of
another female wrestler was only postponed a few months as she ended up
perishing in a fight several months later against a slim, gorgeous blonde who also
attended her school. But this fight didn't occur at school. And it wasn't a
wrestling match. Rather, Linda died in a fist fight that occurred in an Arabic
country where women fighting to the death was legal during a special school
trip the class was taking. Linda's conqueress, a girl named Debby, outfought
Linda from the start and hit Linda with a right uppercut during the fight that
literally sent Linda flying and rolling down a sand dune. Linda was knocked out
by the time she reached the bottom of the dune.

Debby was going to simply walk away from the fight but then decided to record
the first fighting death in her school's history -- something Pam failed to
do against Linda.

Debby raced down the dune, got on the back of the knocked out Linda, wrapped
her left arm around her throat and rolled her over as she began choking her!
Linda slowly regained consciousnes, but then she realized Debby was choking her
and her eyes bulged out in complete and total shock. Linda grabbed Debby's
arm with both hands in an attempt to pull them off her throat, but soon Linda
was unconscious once again in the arms of Debby. Debby quickly added the
finishing touches and choked Linda out, finishing off the beautiful Linda -- this
time, for good!
