I never believed in Ghosts. I watch the Ghost hunting shows, see the evidence, but until what happened to me on Halloween night, I never believed. I now have the marks to prove it.
I work for a local boxing gym as a receptionist. On Halloween we had a party for the local kids and everyone dressed up. I, of course dressed up as a sexy boxer mainly because everyone asked me to. The owner always joked the gym was haunted but come on, old buildings make noises and the electric work isn’t perfect, so the lights will flicker. Everyone had left and I was putting everything away and while in the ring, the lights flickered.
I looked up and thought nothing of this, happens all the time. Even when the power went out, I shrugged and knew to reset the circuit breaker. As I took a step to leave the ring, I heard a faint “lets..fight”. I yelled out, thinking I’m being screwed with “OK, funny. Now turn the lights back on”.
I was then shoved, but there’s no one else around. I felt a cold chill, I was looking around, only the moonlight lighting up the gym. I saw no one, but I had goosebumps. I then shook myself, thinking my mind is screwing with me and I went to leave the ring again.
I felt being shoved back again and “I…wanna…fight” again. Now, I’m scared. I swear I heard a cheering crowd, but that had to be my imagination. Then the ringside bell rang. Ok, now this has to be a practical joke.
Ok, stop it. Enough is..OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I heard the punch hit my stomach, I felt the punch but there was no one there. I doubled over from the very real pain as I heard “Come..on..fight me”. I rose scared to death as I felt a smack across my face. I went back to the corner, letting out a yelp. This wasn’t a joke. Someone, or something was punching me and I couldn’t see it. I swung wildly at nothing as suddenly my stomach is hammered with what I swear was a left right combo…OOOOOOOFFFFF…..UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH came from my mouth, doubling over in the corner. My skin was hot from where the “punches” hit. Gasping for air, I looked up and swore I saw someone in front of me, in tattered boxing gear, fists taped. It looked female but I only saw it for a moment. I stumbled out of the corner and my face gets a sharp pain, my head snaps back and I hit the corner sobbing. I looked down and my nose is bleeding. What the fuck?? There’s no one here! I screamed out “Stop this!! You bloodied my nose, cut this out or I’ll sue you Mother…OOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFHHHHHHHH
I’ve been in the ring and played around, had the guys playfully punch me. This felt like the punch went through my belly. I doubled over like I had been punched violently. Sobbing, gasping, my skin hot and the blood dripping from my nose. I hear “Fight…back” faintly but I can’t see anything. Scared, I stand upright as my head is snapped back…UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I scream loudly as I spin around and hit the ring mat. By sheer instinct I roll under the ropes and crawl to the door. A couple of the guys were outside and saw me.
“JESUS!! Who did this to you?” as I fell into the arms of one of the guys who trained there sobbing and stunned. 2 Other guys ran in and I saw the lights come on. A moment later they came out and said “There’s no one there. They must have gotten out a window.” They took me to the hospital and thankfully I wasn’t seriously hurt.
A couple days later, with a welt on my stomach and a black eye, the owner told me he’d investigate it and even had a security camera. The tape “stops” from the time the lights went on until the guys ran in. He growled and said he’d get that fixed and I was offered a raise. I asked about the legend of the gym being haunted and he laughed and said “They say many years ago female boxer was sparring with a guy and was hit and when she slipped and fell her neck snapped on the ropes killing her. People claim she is still here and wants to fight anyone in the ring. When I said I thought I saw a female in the ring as I was being beat up, his face got pale as a ghost.
“Honey, I didn’t believe in Ghosts until I heard the bag getting hit one night here and things move when no one is here. Guess she got her fight, maybe she’ll leave now.”
I went into the bathroom shaking, looking at the all too real bruises from what happened. I still think someone snuck in. It was dark, I couldn’t see anything in the ring. Then…
“Rematch?” I hear whispered in my ear in an empty and well lit room. I run from the gym and will never go back there again!!!
