When I first started doing video reviews I found myself rating only the ones I had purchased which of course, after a lot of consultation with friends, colleagues and people who previously seen the tapes, I would end up with the guaranteed best video. That's why a lot of them are highly rated. Like you, I hoped not to accidently pick up a dud tape (and trust me, there are lots out there) so after carefull research I would select the ones I knew were going to be good. Therein lies the dilema. With only 5 stars rating system there wasn't enough leeway in the review rating to really set apart all the great ones from the good ones.
I decided to spread it out to a 10 star review rating so that there could be more spread amongst the reviews. They can't ALL be 10 stars! But there are a lot of them out there! I had been asked several times why I never rated the dud tapes or slammed any. "Sure, you'll give us an idea of the GOOD tapes, but how will we know if a certain tape is a dud?!" Good question. Simply put, if I happened to have a dud tape on my hands, I won't slam the companies out there for it. But if it's a GREAT tape, you'll be sure to see it reviewed here. Face it, they ALL put out some great product and sometimes, on some occasions, a real dog tape gets across. Why do they even bother trying to sell it? Well, YOU might like it, I might not. So why slam them for the odd dud that makes it through.
So keep in mind, if a tape isn't reviewed here doesn't mean it's a dud. It's probably just that it doesn't interest me or that I am saving up for it for the near future. The only thing I hope to accomplish with all this work is to give you, the femfighting fan another venue for recomendation on your video tape selection.
You might not share my thoughts or comments on some of the tapes I reviewed and I look forwards to your rebuttals and comments. It's interesting to see why some people like certain tapes and not others.
Cheers!
